Chief petty officers man the rails aboard the amphibious command ship USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20) as the ship departs Lisbon, Portugal, at the conclusion of a four-day port visit. Mount Whitney, homeported in Gaeta, Italy, is the U.S. 6th Fleet flagship and operates with a combined crew of U.S. Sailors and Military Sealift Command civil service mariners. A landing craft air cushion (LCAC) enters the well deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge (LHD 3).
