Navy Diver 2nd Class Matthew Cortez, assigned to Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit (MDSU) 1, Company 1-5, places the assessment and identification of a mine susceptibility system during dive operations. MDSU 1 is assigned to Commander, Task Group (CTG) 56.1 and provides mine countermeasure, explosive ordnance disposal, salvage diving, counter terrorism, and force protection for the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility. A Sailor aboard the Military Sealift Command fleet replenishment oiler USNS Laramie (T-AO 203) attaches a pennant to an MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter during a replenishment-at-sea with the multipurpose amphibious assault ship USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7). Iwo Jima is the flagship of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group with the embarked 24th Marine Expeditionary Unit and is currently deployed in support of maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.
